what a life

a good weekend to battle the sad.
friday night we were in bed by something crazy like 9:30 and asleep by 10. i was just that emotionally tired and sad.
saturday we woke up and were powerhouses. we stuffed things in closets and the storage shed and the garage and we built some furniture and put things away and cleaned. see, we had company coming for the first time. not just 'hi nice house' company but overnight 'let'smake breakfast' guests!
so we powerhoused and then went to a wedding where it was warm and sunny.. out in a winery of sonoma. drinking wine in the sun and toasting the bride and groom and eating delicious heirloom tomatoes and little goat cheese tarts and a prawn risotto and champagne and more wine and then dancing dancing like fools, proudly flaunting the stupid dance. and later feeling a little sore footed and headachy from the too much wine which i just can't handle anymore now that i don't drink like a crazy woman anymore.
we woke up sunday morning for coffee and we and our two friends all pitched in and together in our tiny kitchen we made waffles with strawberries and cream, and a yam and caramelized onion homefries type thing (biagio made that, and oh my it was so good! i didn't expect how yummy good it would be) and scrambled eggs with a litte parmesan and cilantro in them, and maple chicken sausages and guanabana juice (my new favorite and i keep the fridge stocked) and more coffee and sitting in chairs on the back deck overlooking the lawn, with monk's mother's dog lounging in the sun (we were toby-sitting)
and it was oh so much fun
and i napped while he did his errands and they went home
and then i woke up and we were naughty in almost every room of the house and then when we were done with the naughty-making i put on my dr. seuss pants and cooked more!
a salad with heirloom tomatoes, avocado, a tiny amount of gorgonzola, sauteed zucchini and mixed greens. (olive oil and balsamic)
a roasted chicken stuffed with sweet onions and a peeled orange (for juiciness).. rubbed with rosemary and pepper and then basted with orange zest, the juice squeezed out of 3 oranges, honey, butter and garlic (dash of cumin).
snap green beans with butter, salt and pepper. (or in monks case :salad supreme)
and fresh rosemary olive oil roasted baby potatoes.
yes, too much food ...but see, i had too many vegetables and fruits and i had to take care of the problem! now we'll have leftover lunches for a week. yay
after dinner we sat in our loungey couch where both sides recline ,so decadent, and listened to blues music while toby sat between us. monk drinking cocoa and me drinking de-caf chai.
so nice.
and now? a hot tub.
goodness, what a life.
