day 2 1/2

Day 2 1/2 (seeing as i got here wednesday late afternoon):

we watch dvd's at night. it gets dark by 7:30 here.

and we're both pretty much in bed by 9:00.

last night i went to sleep at 9:45.. late!

up with birds and sun...today we went running again ..about 3 miles. but my shins were sore so it was more walking then running. i ran on the flats and downs, but the ups ..ugh.

iced coffee, toast with peanut butter and a mango papaya passionfruit smoothie

we drove to venus pool. you climb a fence and walk through a meadow...stepping over cow pies. then down a little hill and over some rocks and where are you? at a beautiful green pool that is right on the edge of the ocean. the ocean beats up against the rocks that separate the fresh water pool from the salt water.

the pool is a little brackish from the proximity to salt water, but still...clear.

then we drove down to another secret path through a meadow and up and down steep rocky hills with few handholds. to the red sand beach. the sand is, as described, red.

there is a green blue cove that is protected from waves by large lava outcroppings, so in one place the waves beat through and thus there is a perfect little lagoon with mild waves and beautiful water.

my shoulders and back are getting a lot of color.

I ate a mango and read ...lazy.

i live in a sarong.

for dinner...pepper, pineapple, onion , tomato and prawn shish kebob..with rice and coconut milk.

oh! but for lunch, we stopped along the road at a house where there was a sign that said "plate lunch for sale" ..and ate under a open air tent...the mayor of hana and two men were cooking teriyaki chicken (oh, the mayor being a woman) and rice ..macaroni salad on the side. we chatted with the mayor and ate the plate lunch which was a fund raiser for the people who lived in the house where the lunch was being served.

small town. they look out for their own.

they ddon't allow development here. why would someone go to an overpopulated city on hawaii when they have the option of Hana. i don't know.

so, bed time. there's still snorkeling and horse back riding and a hell of a lot more swimming and sunning to do.

oh yea and the running. duh. the runnign and the running and the running.

fuck you, typos.

i have no deep thoughts . not that i normally have deep thoughts. but yea. i hardly think at all here. this is the kind of place to just be, as dorky as that sounds. we sit quietly. we drive quietly. i feel a little self conscious about just how quiet i feel. but i'm getting used to it. i'm not ruminating or discovering inner demons or purging or processing. none of it.

just. existing in a warm humid way.
