birthday

weekends are my downtime. i don't write here much. my infernal multi-entry-days happen when i'm at work and hiding from having what resembles a 'real job'.

yesterday i ate cajun food and drank white wine while listening to the fabulous Lady Bianca belt out the blues. in the sun. my chest turned a rosy pink. my cheeks look like i added just a little too much blush. with a friend i haven't seen nearly enough of in too long.

it was a nice day. then meandering along on the haight. the haight is something that must be done occasionally. for neat clothes, super shoe stores, and cheap cd's. always thronged by hipsters and tourists and homeless kids with their many tattoos and piercings (ha ha irony) yelling "A JOKE FOR A QUARTER" i stood in line to try on a watered green silk dress that i realized i'd never wear.i got out of line and regained my senses. i tried on fluevogs that were still too expensive even at 50% off.

today i played ball with my boy in the park. he's so clumsy, he tries to catch the ball in his mouth and ends up running past it by about 20 feet and having to come back for it. i went to a barbecue at a friends house. who is younger than me but has an old soul. a gorgeous home that he owns with a huge back yard. antiques for furniture. big dark green and blue cushy couch. a cd player that holds 100. he prepares the most amazing foods. marinated prawns bbq'd on teh grill with corn on the cob and fruit salad and greek salad and chocolate cake and a fridge filled with ice tea and beer. he's quiet and still. he watches and listens. he makes you feel good and comfortable and warm, when he's around. and the people are all similar. funny. centered. warm.

i had a good time. it was windy and fresh and the food great and the company better.

it was a mellow amblin and ramblin sorta holiday weekend.

hey. it's my birthday friday. don't forget.
