also, we can sit around by a fire and play games and read at home. but for some reason it's much more relaxing with a bunch of friends a few hundred miles away, surrounded by howling wind, driving rain or steadily falling snow.

happy new year. there was snow walking, game playing, fire lounging, food making and eating, hot tub taking, stars and snow and rain and even more rains (torrential!). good stuff.
there's a superstition that whatever you're doing when the new year falls is hwat the rest of your year will be like
so i consciously chose a new years of warm fires, good friends, mellow conversation and hot tub under the stars. and walks in the snow
because that is how i want my year to be.
