affordable dream house

AAAAH. we got a house. we start moving next weekend. (holy crap) (monk says i should mention it's a rental, we didn't buy. we got a few more years for that)
it's 3+ bedrooms, beautiful beautiful garden, huge living room , huge dining room, all 3 bedrooms are larger than any room in our current house.. lots of detailing and wood and french doors and oh it's just lovely. lots of storage too
and! a garage with a work bench! i'm going to take a jewelry class in november, (an intensive 2 day class) and then get to work on buying all the equipment i need to have my own jewelry bench so i can make rings and such. very exciting.

it has one fall back. we really wanted to move closer to our friends, and had originally thought about moving to the city. but i kept looking on craigslist, and i'd see about one place every two weeks that haed parking. but the spots either weren't big enough for our big truck, or the spots were extra. plus, for the room/space we wanted...they were really expensive.
so this place is only a few miles fro mwhere we currently live, but it's in the hills, and less than a mile from BARt, so i can absolutely walk in the morning
so we're going to sell my imac (since i have an ibook anyway) and buy me a little 2k clunker of a car so i can drive to the city to hang out with pussy or to rockridge to hang out with amy, without feeling i'm givingup so much of my life to BART time. and gives me the freedom to not worry about monk having to pick me up if i stay out late on a week night, as i'll just drive to BART and can drive myeslf home.
i often worry about leaving some social engagement because i'm aware that i have to take him away from whatever he's doing (or if he wants to go to sleep) to come get me. and i could relax about that.

so, we're very excited. this is the kind of place we could stay at for a good few years. we could start a family there. we could have ping pong there. we could have bbq's (if people will still come see us), and we can have a full on guest room as well as the office.

i will post pictures soon, i hope

it wasn't what we initially said we were looking for (something less isolated)
but we made an exception because...well, it's pretty much our dream house.
and who wouldn't make that exception for a dream house that is affordable?

to me, it's a pretty good sign if you start jumping up and down together and squealing when you find out you got a place!

i want to have lots of dinner parties.

xo
