san francisco

things seen on the way to work on a windy day...

a boy on a skateboard, standing still...arms out...the wind pushing him down market.

bags and trash and leaves swirling in circles up up up over and across the bus

a rotund man in striped pants and shirt which may have been black and white (stripes) but with the clear plastic trashbag poncho on, he looked like a giant round peppermint like one gets after dinner in a mediocre restaurant.

the pancake haired man reading about New Orleans from a tourist-book. as though there is no weather.. (and for some reason. today i thought about the fact that the pancake haired man could be not around some day. and i felt a sadness)

inside out umbrellas, (like dead birds)

hunched backs and billowing coats.

on non windy days, one might see:

the man with the live chicken on his head

the man who yells how much he loves san francisco and shouts "i want to be buried right there! right there!" while pointing at the middle of market street

bubbles being blown out of a window of an office building. many stories up.

once i saw a bubble come out of a window. dodge through traffic, cross the street and head up the side of a building. it didn't pop and it went up and up and up until i couldn't see it anymore. i'd like to believe that bubble made it out of our atmosphere. whole and untouched. a champion of the bubble world.

packs of homeless children and their dogs

people smiling or scowling or talking to each other or talking to themselves.

a silver man who never moves

a beautiful man who tap dances on a large piece of cardboard

buskers and vendors

life.
