weekends

ah. christmas shopping done. i'm making the bulk of my presents. cd's and necklaces.

and then. my usual xmas excuse. "oh. no spouse anymore. gotta get the presents for myself" and i do what i do so well. i spend lots of money on me. clothes i've felt i've needed. a pair of shoes and a jacket. ..hee..ipod.

gluttonous xmas spending. i should feel guilty ? i don't.

last night i went to a holiday cocktail party. in my cowboy hat, ballgown and cowboy boots. the fabuloso couple also dressed up (leopard print slinkified dress. black suit with crazy patterned jacket). we drank champagne and mulled wine and had lots of 'conversation' with new people. it was actually upstairs from some friends, so we didn't really know many people there.

I have issues with meeting people at parties. i met two people i'd really like to see again, but at the same time...that semi tipsy party-going atmosphere usually doesn't end with number exchanges... maybe it should, but in my experience it doesn't.

i also. had a party crush experience! rarity.

we returned downstairs and the cowboy spun the records and we danced away the night. fabuloso's and i had been ready to leave at around 11:30.. and then somehow the music and half the party moving downstairs to where the skin was warmer... we stayed til 2.

it was a strange party for me in some ways. both downstairs and upstairs, these two flats... beautiful railroad flats with gorgeous built-ins and wainscotting and high ceilings. gorgeous. and it was like being in a catalog. everything was perfectly placed, from an antique typewriter and victrola to a pottery barn velvet couch and absolutely well-planned christmas tree with coordinated colors.

i was tempted to string some popcorn and sneak it into the tree and look innocent.

it was a life free of chaos, and a life free of living. or so it seemed to me. it was not the life for me.

i have to go clean the kitchen before it's time to go play with iota girl again.

ahh happy weekends.

san francisco has this car share program. you put down $300 one time, and then it's about $25 a day to rent/share a little green vw bug. i think this is an amazing program and i think i'll join. for picnics and trips to the oyster farm and home to carmel.
