rant

there is a difference between aggressive and passive argument.

if i argue that one should not expect a celebrity to live up to our own idea of 'personal integrity' or standards. and that one should not feel let down by an artists personal choices , although we can feel let down by an artists work.

the argument "we are entitled to our opinions about an artists personal choices" is passive. yes. we are. how can i argue with that without naturally then removing my right to say one should not?

but the correct counter argument , if you were truly going to argue *my* *point* , would have been that you believe we *do* have the right to expect celebrities to set examples and take on a roll.

cesar chavez chose a role as symbol. celebrities just want to showcase their work.

i can't argue that people aren't entitled to their opinions. i would never try.

but if htat's the argument i'm going to get back whenever i say "one shouldn't blah blah blah" ... well, i guess i'd never argue again.

because ... what's the end of an argument like that? "uh. yea. we are all entitled our opinions" "ok then" .

We're all judging all the time. holding other people up to our own internal standards/code of ethics. we should. I think that's a healthy thing to do.

that was not my argument!

/end bitch.
